Feed the Need Grant Received!

The Illinois Valley Food Pantry expresses its gratitude to all who participated in the 2023 “Feed the Need” fundraiser during November and December. For every dollar donated through PayPal or directly to the pantry, the Miller Group Charitable Trust Fund at The Chicago Community Foundation generously matched up to $5,000. Your contributions played a crucial role in helping us reach our goal. We would also like to extend our deepest appreciation to the individuals behind the scenes who made this event possible.

Special thanks to John Spencer and Tom Henson from Starved Rock Media for their exceptional efforts in advertising and raising public awareness. We are also grateful to Joyce McCullough, the advisor who recommended this grant. The Illinois Valley Food Pantry acknowledges and appreciates the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in making this event a resounding success.

Stamp Out Hunger

Stamp Out Hunger

The National Association of Letter Carriers sponsors a food drive annually called “Stamp Out Hunger” for all Food Pantries nationwide. It is usually the Saturday before Mother’s Day. The letter carriers always include a notice in everyone’s mail when the event is going to take place.  See below for last year’s drive results!

Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

The Illinois Valley Food Pantry is happy to announce that 3,292 pounds of food was collected for the Pantry during the NALC “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive that took place on Saturday, May 13th, 2023! The Pantry also received $140.00 in monetary donations!

Thank you to everyone in our community and across the country that donated to this annual food drive to help Pantries stock their shelves.

Thank You to all of the postal workers who volunteered their time to go around picking up the food donations and delivering to the Pantries. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!!

A very special Thank You to our local postal workers (especially Mark Zymunt!) Even as Mark was dealing with a recent death in his family, he still found the time to volunteer his services in many aspects with this food drive to help the Illinois Valley Food Pantry! Your kindness and support to our cause is always so very much appreciated!!!
